Bass Fishing Offshore with Kayaks

Fishing for bass in a kayak is fun in so many ways. Fishing for bass in offshore and in deep water is sometimes overlooked because it can be difficult to cast and stay on fish in the wind and waves, but it’s a fun challenge. I like the Hobie mirage drive or other Kayaks that allow you to peddle while keeping your hands on a rod. I’ve learned that using the peddle system like a trolling motor on a bass boat can be very effective in getting your lure where you want it. One of my favorite techniques for fishing offshore is a carolina rig. It is also an easy way to fish when you are faced with trying to keep your lure in place on a fast drifting kayak platform.

  1. I'm getting a Powell 7 ft medheavy and pairing it with a shimano casitas 150 hg and using this for Texas rigs and smaller jigs and also chatter baits and spinner baits what line should I use

  2. The lake Justin is fishing is Fayette County. It's a slot limit power plant lake that has fish year round from 2ft to 20ft due to it's low fluctuating water temperature. It's a wonderful lake to practice on and experiment with when trying to learn new techniques for bass fishing. There's fish every and will definitely produce fish for even the most novice angler. Nice vid Justin. Keep em coming!

  3. A video on how you're using your electronics would be great. What you're seeing, how you adjust it, problems you come across. I think a lot of people would find that informative

  4. Sorry this is not on your video but I do watch them all question I have is I'm about to drop 200 in a reel and I like 99 dollar lews speed spool but I'm wanting better what would you go with for 200 dollars max thank you sir

  5. I love your videos man….and would love to continue seein em….which wouldn't happen if you got struck by lightning lol. Furreal though, be safe out there dude. A couple extra fish aren't worth getting fried.

  6. Went out fishing in Lafitte, LA for some bass, and I wasn't paying attention and thought I was stuck on the bottom. Then my drag started just peeling out of my baitcaster and I saw what had to be a 6-7 pounder, easily my pb jump out of the water. I tipped my rod down because the fish was pulling quite hard and so I could get a stronger pull on him, and long story short, I had the slightest bit of slack in my line and lost the fish which still pains me to this day which happened about a week ago. My lesson I learned was to never lose concentration and never have ANY amount of slack in your line, or you could lose your pb like I did!
