“Heavy Metal Bass Fishing” is even more fun than it sounds! Winter is prime time to fish a variety of metal baits. Blade Baits and tail spins were born out of necessity in the heart of Winter. Jigging spoons and flutter spoons have amazing fish catching abilities any time baitfish are around. If you’re not putting these metal baits to work for you, you’re leaving fish behind in the cold water months!
A lot of anglers misunderstand Metal baits. They look at these hunks of metal hanging on the pegs at their local tackle shop and can’t believe bass would eat them. It’s not until you see the action in the water that they’ll begin to make sense. After the first few bites, you’re shocked by the realization that fish can’t resist these lures! Cold water bass fishing with metal baits can be incredible! Now, not all baits are created equal and we definitely have a few favorites.
Below you’ll find links to the exact baits and gear we discussed in the video. We’ve included our favorite sizes, colors, and hook upgrades for each. We’ve also included our favorite rod and reel combos for fishing these baits effectively. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Maybe sometime you could do a metal jigging video on the water showing using your electronics.
Should look into some of the lighter slow pitch jigging jigs in 30 to 60 grams Probably be perfect for when bass are really deep.
We don’t have cold water here in SoCal anymore…..air temps are in the 70’s here in Jan….bass are still biting lipless cranks very well!! Having said this, my fav blade is the Binsky! It always catches fish for me. The Damiki “helicopters” in the air more times than not on the cast.
Long time subscriber here and can attest these techniques work for me in the winter! I never use to fish any metal baits in the winter there outside of a blade. Adding the other two really has paid off.
Also does Matt still offer guiding services or a way to come meet and fish with you guys?
I am just putting in a couple of orders for more metal!
🐟🎣👍
Great video man! 👌
Thanks for the information as always. Where is your favorite place to throw a blade bait?
A little Heavy Metal is good for ones soul!
Spoons used to be an awesome bait for me. But after years of information shared by people voluntarily, it has become something I never think about anymore
Hi Tim little, this is Tom Biggs. Great vid bud.
Do you ever use the big 1 oz. Silver Buddy?
The spoon has been working on Kentucky lake for me 💯💯💯
Someone finally bringing up the Jackal Deracoup! 👍Happy New Year!
Love winter time fishing, and heavy metal. Thanks Tim. 👍
Me encantan sus videos gracias, saludos desde Durango Durango México
Best days on the water have always been in January and February. Might go a few hours without a bite while I look for them, but once you find them they’re typically feeding heavy and you can just sit in one spot catching them one after another! Many times I’ve found them from a single fish that busted on top. Go over it with traditional sonar and see the mother load.
Thanks!
Heavy metal🤘🏼
Up a 3am trynna figure this out
I’m going to be spooning all winter long.
