In this video produced by the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center, Alton Jones explains why slot limits are in place at select Texas lakes. The goal is to encourage the harvest of small bass in order to leave more food for the big ones so they can continue to grow and spawn and ultimately produce more trophy bass. Slot limit lakes include Lake Fork, Pinkston, Joe Pool, Walter E. Long, Georgetown, Bastrop, Bridgeport, Sweetwater, Davy Crockett, and Fayette County. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publications/annual/fish/limits_freshwater/index.phtml#limits

I fish lake bastrop alot more people really need to take alot of under slot bass they're killing the lake. fewer and fewer bait fish around and the bass a getting skinny and not looking as healthy as they use to.
Great video i think the reason people dont take smaller then slot is because they believe you cant keep them.
Make sure you keep the big ones! They are cannibals and should be removed. My lake is proof. 95 percent of folks dont know jack about fish management.
The lakes I fish has a 12 to 15 inch slot limit . 6 , eleven inch bass is not enough for a meal with three people . If i want a fish dinner I have to harvest the 15 inch plus fish . Missouri needs to make the slot something like 14" to 17" . Until then I am keeping the plus 15 inchers .
my place you will get a ticket when taking small bass home.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who takes a few smaller bass home. It helps especially when the lake is full of small to med sized fish.
I like the comment about its good for recreational activity.. $$$ not food
