Tracking Bass on Toledo Bend

Tracking Bass on Toledo Bend
Some fish biologists are tracking largemouth bass on Toledo Bend Reservoir and Lake Fork to determine if increased fishing pressure at these legendary lakes is changing fish behavior in ways that could make them more difficult for anglers to catch.

Monster Staff

Lake Fork Monsters is a group of avid bass fishermen who chase big bass in the Lake Fork area of Texas. They’re known for pursuing largemouth bass, which can reach impressive sizes in this region. If you’re interested in monster bass, Lake Fork is definitely a hotspot!

  1. Controlling or removing giant salvinia might have been a good thing, but killing ALL aquatic vegetation had to be a bad thing. Can some native vegetation be planted? Coontail, cat tails, reeds, etc.? Bring back the hydrilla.

  2. What is destroying the fisheries in Texas including Toledo Bend of course is the spraying for the salvinia. There has to be another method. Other than chemical warfare. This is inhumane!!! EVERYTHING IS DOWNSTREAM!!!! End the spraying!!!!!

  3. The Lake needs to be regulated more, a lot of the people are meathauling on the lake. And the fishery is being depleted.when the bass masters ranked it as #1…. I hope to see Texas as a state increase the limit size to 16inches and only 5 fish per boat. I see not only Toledo Bend spiraling down. But , many other lakes. Make the Louisiana fisherman have a Texas license just like we have to have a Louisiana license when we cross over on certain bodies of water. Thanks God bless

  4. What needs to happen is the Bass limit be lowered to 5, stop spraying the lake full of round up and you guys need to really protect them like y’all do the flounder during their spawn. Anglers are so tired of seeing those female bass cleaned from February to April. Those fish that get a knife ran through them won’t be reproducing!

  5. After this lake was # 1 for 2 years in a row. Someone had the brilliant idea of spraying all the grass. Now this lake is a shell of its former self. This lake has not been the same since. You cant hardly fine any grass now. It has been fighting the spraying for 6 yrs now. And it still isn't back. That was the stupidest thing they could have done on this great lake. I bet this lake is not in the top 100 any longer. STOP THE SPAYING ON TOLEDO BEND.

  6. What a job project… Might takes years to compile the needed data! Need volunteers?
Get some local teenagers and college students, along with some ham radio operators (trained in radio tracking!) And some local scuba diving clubs to monitor and find fish at depths.
