Kayak Bass Fishing: Lake Fork Low Water in Winter

Got to spend a couple days kayak bass fishing on Lake Fork in eastern Texas. It was more of a family trip than a fishing trip but I hauled my Hobie PA 14 down and got to spend about 4 hours on the water 2 different days.

The air temps were a wonderful 75-80 degrees and the water temps were in the 60-64 degree range. Lake Fork was almost 6 feet low which provided some challenges to finding the Florida strain largemouth bass that populate that lake.

All of the grass flats were above water so it was pretty much fishing off shore timber and creek channels which isn’t my strong suit. I lost all of the first day’s footage but there wasn’t anything too exciting. I caught a little 11″ LMB on the 4th cast of the first day then caught a couple white bass on the a-rig before casting it off and loosing it.

The second day was pretty slow but ended it catching my 4th best largemouth of the year.
