Going to the LAND of GIANTS – 2022 MLF Stage 2 – Lake Fork, TX

MLF Bass Pro Tour is headed back to the land of giants. Lake Fork is one of the best big bass fisheries in the country. The water is low right now and that evens the playing field for a lot of the guys that don’t have a ton of knowledge there. I am very excited to get the boat in the water.

  1. I had one of the BEST days of bass fishing on Lake Fork that I have ever experienced in my life back when I was in my mid 20's which seems like a lifetime ago. My dad and a good friend of ours scheduled a half day with a local guide and since I didn't have a boat my late father God bless him, gave me his Ranger bass boat for the morning and said "You're Not going to sit here all day in the cabin while I go fishing, just be careful" I'm starting to tear up a bit as I write this.
So I basically just idled along as I left the Mustang Marina where we were staying trying to watch out for stumps and stobbs which LF is known for and I found a long point covered in milfoil about 2 ft. under the surface the wind was blowing perfect for that spot so I just let the boat drift down the point barely even using the trolling motor.
The only bait that I could think of was a sluggo jerkbait rigged weedless that I could work over top of the milfoil without getting snagged in all of that mess of vegetation. I literally caught a bass on nearly every cast!! I weighed every fish and my average was over 5 pounds! None of them were keepers with the slot limit in effect, but if I were in a bass tournament in Missouri????? I would have taken ALL THE MONEY!!
I will Never forget that day as long as I'm still breathing and I'm talking about catching dozens of bass 4.5 to 6 pounds for about 4 hrs straight.
What really sucks about all of this is that My Dad and buddy of ours only caught a couple of bass each and paid money to have a guide "supposedly" show them where the fish were and how to catch them. When I told my Dad about the Awesome day that I had everybody in the cabin about 7 guys in the group was grilling me on where, how, what bait, ect. and my Dad said "Well even a blind hog can find and acorn" The room of the cabin erupted in laughter many beers were drank that night and it carried over to the local bar at the Mustang Lodge and they all bought me a steak dinner and paid for my drinks.
LOL….Yep that's exactly what happened and I still miss my Dad so much! So many great times and adventures that will never likely happen again. Keep the ones you love close to your heart because none of us will live forever except in the Kingdom of Heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 🙏

  2. I purposely don't watch the television broadcast of the tournaments (I record them) until after I watch all of yall video's. Can't have no spoilers. Good luck brother.

  3. Hello DC and God bless I was wondering if you had a extra rod you can help me out with just recently lost my combos in a storage and I slowly starting from scratch I do suffer from depression and fishing has helped me a lot that's why I'm trying to reach out if you could help that would be awesome if not no biggie thank you and God bless
