Denton Greenbelt Debacle Continues in 2024 – 380 Elm Fork TPWD Park Trinity River takes Heavy Damage

The hot potato I just can’t put down! Denton, Texas, has a once beautiful waterway that spanned (past tense) from Lake Ray Roberts to Lake Dallas, Texas. It was the Elm Fork of the Trinity River, and I have been documenting this debacle for a few years. I dropped the potato in 2022 because I was being consumed by it, and the Denton Trinity Greenbelt Debacle is one of the reasons I was happy to take on the consulting job down on South Padre Island, Texas, and get away from this for awhile. Instead of purifying my soul, once I returned, it was hotter than ever in my mind.

The US Army Corps of Engineers, TPWD and the City of Denton want nothing to do with fixing this problem. And here it sits.
It’s not a, “diamond in the rough,” it is a diamond made rough by mismanagement, non-management from the US Army Corps of Engineers.

The economic impact of this environmental debacle is large – tourists, paddle and kayak stores (sales tax), the loss of a great piece of peace of mind through being in nature, away from the growing Messtroplex?

Monster Staff

Lake Fork Monsters is a group of avid bass fishermen who chase big bass in the Lake Fork area of Texas. They’re known for pursuing largemouth bass, which can reach impressive sizes in this region. If you’re interested in monster bass, Lake Fork is definitely a hotspot!

  1. I used drive by that on weekends I'd visit the kids. Wanted to see it but never stopped. Also it was frequently closed (13 years ago). Thank you for showing what's happening
