  1. Folks check out the members only section. Excellent series on jig fishing he just completed with detail on types of jigs, rod/reel choices, etc. Excellent content and well worth the small subscription price to become a better angler.

  2. Pretty politically correct answer. Anyway, thank you for nice reply. I have consistently be advised when I ask how many 10+ bass per year. That number was pretty consistently 4 per year. Most said that every once in a while they might it 10 per year. However, that many in one year is a black swan event. Just to let you know. Is that about your experience over last 8 years?

  3. Hi Mike, I fished with you about 7-8 years ago. You had just started your new guide service at that time. I have fished with many Lake Fork Guides over the last 20 or so years and one question I always ask each of them Is, “ On an average say 200 trips per year, how many double digit bass do you and your clients combined, put in your boat per year?”

I ask because you had no track record 8 years ago. Now you do. Would you mind giving me your best estimate?

I was surprised that every guide asked had very similar average 10 and over.

Perhaps some guides are much more effective on getting larger numbers of total daily fish, and are more consistent. All careers have “Good-Better-Best” but everyone in a particular business is competent if they are able to stay.

I want to land a double digit bass. I’ve been fortunate enough to land dozens of 6-7-8s and even one 9-13 pound bass.

Do you see what I’m asking?

That’s even though all guides are good, no matter how many trips I take, and how much I favor one guide over another personally, and make catch more numbers consistently with one guide over another, isn’t catching a 10+ pound bass, simply a “roll of the dice?”

  4. You can also adjust the lake level(+/-) on Hummingbirds and that will adjust the contour depths on the LakeMaster chip depending on water level (+/-).
